ESL Electronic price tags used in production - for example, calibration monitoring

Electronic price tags are mostly used... like price tags in a store.

But these electronic price tags with E-Ink can be used in other ways as well. Whenever you need to have information in the field, on the shop floor, that is dependent on information from a computer or database... and it's variable.

One Czech engineering company used these price tags to show whether a machine had passed the mandatory calibration. If all is well, the display shows how much time is left before the machine's calibration expires. However, if the calibration is not done in time, the red colour of the display clearly warns the operator that the machine is not calibrated and must not be worked on.

Another possible use is to continuously change the code on the display over time. If the machine is to be checked once an hour and you are verifying the presence of the controller by reading the code at the selected location, but the weight of thebut the controller has already taken the code and is fictitiously checking from his chair, then you have a solution to get him to the place at the given time.

The variation of use is limited only by the colors on the display (black and red on white). The advantage is the power supply not from the mains but from a battery. Opticon 's displays (e.g. OPT-ESL-EE-150R) run in temperatures just above zero, vary in size and operate within the range of a base station, which has a range similar to that of conventional wifi. A base station(OPT-ESL-EBS-40) is always needed, which transmits data in a specific compressed form and at regular intervals. This makes the battery life over two years and even after that the battery is user replaceable.
