Target applications for wireless terminals are shops, stores, expedidion, logistic, inventory, etc. The most highlighted features are:

• DNS addressability and communication through standard protocol TCP/IP;
• platform and communication software independency. CPT-8370 WiFi terminal is able to connect any other WLAN device - it may be PC, laptop, microchip or portable PDA;
• hardware independency. Contrary to competitive products, you do not need for connection exclusively access-point manufactured at CipherLab. With no wonder, you can use any commercial access-point with IEEE 802.11g specification;
• SMS (short messages) support between units in the field or between terminal and system. Everybody knows it from mobile phones;
• standard Nokia type LI-ION accumulator, the unit works at least 16 hours after full recharge.

 

You will obtain all neccessary to put the unit in the work already in the basic set - include CD-ROM with program, which you can connect the terminal to any MS Excel sheet with, and start working in a few minutes. Of course, you need also the Access Point (coverage up to 250 meters) - where one base is able to control connection with many terminals concurrently. Another tool, which you will find in package, is DLL library, which you can connect the terminal application with to any ODBC kind of database (Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, Informix, Firebird, etc.).

For non-english speaking countries may be also important ease of localization the basic developing & debugging tool - Application Generator. Brief list of software tools for terminal CPT-8370 WLAN is:

• DB-Dispatcher, windows-based program for connection terminal with any ODBC-kind database. DB-Dispatcher is designed for easy transformation from batch memory off-line terminals CPT to wireless on-line models. It is able to work with old templates created for off-line terminal CPT-8300. • DB-Dispatcher Direct, windows-based program for connection terminal with any ODBC-kind database. "Direct" version is more efficient, more strightway and richer on features in comparision with DB-Dispatcher. But it has no capability to handle batch terminals templates. Download here
• CipherLab ActiveX component, this easy-to-use but powerful in capabilities ActiveX tool enables creating the applications for CipherLab terminals in any programming language with ActiveX technology support. It allows you to create all terminal screens in your favourite programming environment and language. More detailed description is in the document here
• Terminal Emulator - aplication, which after download into unit turns CPT into completly standard Telnet accessible terminal client. There are two kinds of emulation available, download and try VT-100 / VT-200 emulator or IBM-5250 emilator;
• CipherLab-Basic Trial, demoversion of development tool for any CipherLab terminal, in Basic programming language syntax. Download here
• CipherLab-C, development tool for any CipherLab terminal, in ANSI-C programming language syntax.

On-line terminals CPT-83x0 are manufactured in the variants:

• 1D CCD barcode scanner / 2D bar code imager / laser barcode scanner / long laser bar code scanner
• with RFID reader / without RFID reader
• 24 keys or 39 keys
• with different wireless module, 4 kinds are available: 433 MHz or 2.4 GHz or BlueTooth Class 1 or WLAN IEEE-802.11b

Codeware prepared tool for easy transition from use of batch memory terminals (CPT-8000, CPT-711, CPT-8300) to use of wireless terminals - the software DB_Dispatcher. The application is able to read the template previously created with Application Generator for batch off-line terminal, and to work with the on-line wireless terminal in the same manner, how you are used to. Supricely, even if your lookup data are not stored in the memory of terminal, but in the remote database, which is DB_Dispatcher connected to via ODBC (Open Database Connectivity).
