RFID and RTLS

RFID identification is a modern method of identification in which radio waves are used. This enables wireless identification in which the data stored in the RFID tag (chip) is read by RFID readers.

The information (data) in the RFID tag is read by the reader into systems (economic, warehouse, ...) which then work with this data as required. In industry, RFID tags are used to monitor production and logistics processes or for inventory management.

Basically, they are deployed where there is a need to collect data quickly and in large volumes and where it is not possible to work with a number ofor 2D code, where it is necessary to ensure direct visibility for the reader (barcode on a label, etc.).

The data identification stored in the tag can contain various information on the material or goods (code, order, variant, result after passing through the checkpoint, ...). But how to get the coordinates of the material or goods from this information? Forget GPS, the necessary signal will not penetrate the industrial halls. RTLS (Real-Time Location System) is used for this purpose - adding precise coordinates to identify the material or goods.

CODEWARE is a partner and master distributor of KATHREIN, which combines RFID and RTLS into one system.

In industry, RTLS and RFID are deployed in the following processes, for example:

  • Warehouse and supply chain automation
  • Work-in-Process / Kanban / Replenishment / Re-work
  • Vehicle tracking at the OEM plant (production and logistics) or at dealers
  • Container management and object tracking

Kathrein/CODEWARE 's industrial solutions offer the experience of both companies in different spheres of industry.

CODEWARE specializes in RFID and RTLS technologies in the Central European region and uses conferences as a means to share experience and knowledge in this area.

Based on all the experience and cooperation with Central European companies, CODEWARE will help you to design a systemRFID or RTLS, design the appropriate equipment including the necessary software and configuration, or implementation in other industrial automation systems.
